How many barcodes do I need?
Every variant you sell needs its own number. Count them here and see which package covers you.
Rules of thumb
- Every size, color and pack size is a separate product and needs its own code.
- A bundle or set sold as one item needs exactly one code of its own.
- Never reuse a code for a different product - it causes stock and listing errors.
Retailers and marketplaces identify each sellable variant by its own barcode number. A T-shirt in three sizes and two colours is six products to a till or to Amazon, so it needs six codes. Planning a little ahead saves a second purchase later, and our larger packages cost less per code.
Frequently asked questions
Does each colour need its own barcode?
Yes. Each combination a customer can buy separately - size, colour, flavour, pack size - is its own product and needs its own number.
Do I need a barcode for a bundle?
If the bundle is sold as one item with one price, it needs one code of its own, in addition to the codes of any items you also sell separately.
Can I buy more codes later?
Yes, but each order may come from a different number range. If you want all your products in one consecutive range, buy enough codes in one order.
